I led the creation and maintenance of a new design system to modernize our user experience, accelerate innovation, and reduce time to market; streamlining collaboration across design, development, and product to bridge legacy and new technologies.
STEPS
New visual style guide
Introduced new semantic color tokens & refined styles to modernize aesthetics & deliver a more cohesive experience while preserving core brand elements.
Align old systems to new
With 30 years of legacy tech, we first aligned multiple design systems to new standards before building with Rise across the product.
Scalable component library
Working with devs to build a robust library of components for efficient design to dev hand-off with flexible base components to replicable extended components and patterns.
REFINING & SCALING
Refresh of global features
The new system launch highlighted the need to improve global features like navigation, where I drove updates that significantly improved discoverability & usability.
Documentation
I created documentation and UX guidelines to ensure components were applied consistently, with clear rules and examples to prevent misuse.
Improvement and management
I stepped into a PM role alongside engineering to manage design requests, Jira tickets, and ongoing system maintenance, ensuring continual improvement.
